(Navajo: Tó Naneesdizí) is a
census-designated place (CDP) in Coconino
County, Arizona, USA. The population was
8,225 at the 2000 census. The Hopi town of
Moenkopi lies to its southeast.
The name of the city most probably came from
Toova, a Hopi headman from Oraibi. It may
also have been stemmed from other sources.
Tuba City is a small town located within the
Painted Desert on the western side of Navajo
Nation (Navajo Indian Reservation). The town
is situated on U.S. Route 160, near the
junction with Route 264. Most of Tuba City's
residents are Navajo, with a small Hopi
minority.
The city also has one KFC, one McDonald's, a
few shopping centers, and several
convenience stores. They also have a Subway
and Sonic Drive In restaurant since the year
2004. In addition, there is an interesting
flea market held every Friday behind the
chapter house, offering a variety of Navajo
and Hopi arts and crafts, as well as local
foods, such as mutton sandwiches and posole.
